Think for Yourself
Jan 10, 2008 Author: green eyes | Filed under: Fight the Power, Political Buffoonery

Last week as the all-important Iowa caucus was looming, I was watching Good Morning America as I was getting ready for the paying j-o.  The news was non-stop election coverage, non-stop voter inquiries and the camera happened upon a group of Iowans (or whatever they’re called) being interviewed as to their caucus choices. All raised valid points and concerns…and then this silly white broad starts talking. She had good concerns about health care– great for making it available for old folks and kids– but what about those fresh out of college kids. Good question, then she was asked who she was voting for. “Barack all the way!” She excitedly proclaimed. “Why?” asked the ever inquisitive reporter “I like the idea of a minority president,†says she.
SMH.
Now– don’t get your panties twisted. Nothing wrong with a minority president. But when YOUR sole reason for voting for a mofo is because he’s a minority– that’s lame. not that he won’t be a great president– but if he us a great president- it has more to do with his intellect, leadership skills and ideas- not so much his melanin levels. Silly snowflake.
Across blogs and news outlets, the question of who’s endorsing who is popping up like extra buttered corn at the Magic Johnson Cineplex, almost to the point where we are deferring our decision making to someone of a higher visibility than us. Who is jay Z/Beyonce/Diddy/Curtis/Bill Gates voting for? Who does Oprah say should win? Who cares that that Beyonce is dumber than a doornail, or that Bill Gates is in a very different economic status than the majority of us, which would generally mean his needs in a president and policy maker are vastly different than most of ours. Do you really think any of these celebrities are stressing over mortgages and healthcare costs? The answer is no- you shouldn’t actually have to think about it What you SHOULD do, is think for yourself who you think had half a brain and a moderate ability to fulfill an fraction of their campaign promises in the months leading up to the next US presidential election. Â
in a effort to get you, our dear Alumnah readers, more informed, here is a quick a dirty overview of the candidates, who they are, what promises they’ll more than likely break. Don’t take my word for it—click the links and look up shot on the cats for yourselves. You can’t bitch about this next election being stolen from you if you don’t at least make the attempt to take ownership of it.
The leading Democrats…
Barack Obama –Black cat.  His wife reportedly introduced him as her “baby daddy†at the last Democratic Convention.  New to politics, Supports a woman’s right to choose, universal health care and opposes the death h penalty. Is running on a platform promising change.
Hillary Clinton- White broad. Bill’s wife. Supports a woman’s right to choose, is against torturing prisoners, Guantanamo Camps, but supports the patriot act. Big campaign statement is tat she is tried and tested, can not only bring change but has the experience to do so.
John Edwards- You may remember him as John Kerry’s Vice Presidential running mate ion the last election. He lost that one and quickly set his sights on the 08 Presidential bid.  Considering that he’s spent the past three years essentially campaigning for office and still is coming in third in all the polls and primaries in all the polls and primaries in all the polls and primaries isnt a good look.  He supports Universal health care & upholding Roe Vs Wade, wants a phased withdrawal from Iraq. Â
The leading Republicans…
John McCain- White Guy. Moderate for a republican. Former Vietnam War Prisoner of War- had a movie made about his experience. At 72 the oldest candidate, and one of the most experienced. Doesn’t support a women’s right to chose, supports the death penalty, and supports the Iraq war.
Rudy Giuliani- One of the best known candidates, former NYC mayor Giuliani is sill kind of a long shot, as he’s been mainly riding the wave of being known as “former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani.” A republican with certain moderate views on issues, he supports a woman’s right to choose, but doesn’t support Universal healthcare.
Mike Huckabee- Fun name, Ultra conservative, religious white guy. Doesn’t support Universal Healthcare or a woman’s right to choose, but does support Immigration.
Mitt Romney- Mormon. Named Mitt. Like Mittens? Get it? No? Fuck you. It’s a Fun name. Don’t vote for anyone’s name though a fun name does not a leader make. He doesn’t support Universal Healthcare, a troop withdrawal in Iraq, but is for strong homeland security defenses and possibly military actions in Iran.
Those Other parties…
Ron Paul- Once there was Perot. Then there was Nader. Now Ron Paul is this year’s most viable third party candidate. Considered a Republican by some and a libertarian by others, this plucky Texan is pushing away at his bid to be president. Does he have a chance? Who knows, but he’s certainly has some interesting ideas.

Whatever you choose- make sure its your choice. The powers that be like to believe we cant think for ourselves- they spend a lot of money trying to dumb us down-lets show them its not working.

Mike Huckabee is on The Colbert Report as I read this. He might not believe anything I agree with, but he’s a pretty funny bastard. Jeff from my site wrote something interesting about Ron Paul today, click my name and check it out.
lol, Huckabee just joked that all his campaign funds came from selling guns on the streets of New York.
I know beans about Politics, Greenie. I personally don’t think the system much effects us lower middle class folks. As far as I know, the system is really only for the REALLY poor and the REALLY rich. I am neither.
I’m rooting for a Democrat like a MoFo. As I said on my mi espacio blog, Republicans wouldn’t have the reputation of being dicks if it weren’t earned. I know a lot of guys who are dicks. They’ve all earned the reputation.
Pause and whatnot.
Luh U Girrrrrlll..

^^^^
I’ve never seen or heard of this many black people wanting to vote until Barack showed up. Thats foul. And some of them cried for years saying that we’ll never have a black president, and now that there’s a possibility to have one, a lot of them turned him down. I’m just speaking for from what I see. Same case with Hilary…
thanks fellas. Im the first to admit that i have serious doubts about whether votes actual count, and a big part of me believes that everything done been decided ages ago, and where just pawns in a game.
Nonetheless… Im still paying attention, and i’ll be casting a vote for someone when election day comes.

Co-sizzle.
With every big decision, if you don’t do your initial research, you’ll miss the big picture.
Of course I can’t vote (Trust me, 2004, you didn’t know how much I wanted to.) but if I would, it’d probably be for Obama, based on the issues.
His minority status is just icing on the cake and seriously an after-thought.
Whatchu know about that?
