I have a confession. I haven’t sen Dark Knight yet. I feel like Will smith in I Am Legend. Minus being a Black man and the zombies and being a scientist and all. I know, kill yourself, greenie you lost (for both that godawful analogy and for not seeing Dark Knight), blah blah blah. Look, Ive been busy, working damn near 7 day work weeks, 15 hour days, trying to come up with interesting things to post about (yes I admit, I’m scrapping the bottom of the barrel with this one). I’m so tired I can barely think straight. However, I don’t need to whine to you all, you know how the grind can be, and if you don’t, go get a damn job. But I digress. The point is, I am one of the few people who have not contributed to the $400 million box office take of Dark Knight, and now, with my first completely free and clear weekend in months, I’m torn between turning my phone off and sleeping, or dragging my ass to IMAX to finally see Dark Knight (or the regular theater, lets not get TOO ambitious).
I can practically feel you all saying to me– “greenie!! It’s a no brainer! Go see Dark Knight!” Chances are I will, but the idea of a bottle of champagne, pizza, a bubble bath and a two day nap is mad appealing. Besides, since I’m the last woman standing who hasn’t seen it, I’ll have to go solo…. and it might rain… okay I’m just making up excuses. See the thing is, I was crazy hype about the movie before it came out. I’m not a big comic book gal, but I admit, the whole Heath Ledger hype had me intrigued, so I was set to go premiere weekend, mainly because if I don’t see something right away, my interest tends to wane. Then work and life got in the way, and its become harder and harder to escape the hype of Dark Knight.
When I’ve heard bits and pieces of it, when all the worlds raving, I cant help but wonder if I’m just playing catch up, trying to fit in. Of course, that’s not the case. My curiosity was piqued early and all that I have heard has only caused it to increase. The only thing stopping me is sheer exhaustion and the promises of bubbles baths and naps (and at the moment the need to write a post about SOMETHING). I lost, I know.
Fret not dear readers, I’ll go add my $10 to the Dark Knight pie, and come Monday, I’ll finally be in on the jokes and story. Who wants to join me? (for the MOVIE, not the bubble baths you pervs.)
PS: Today is National Fresh Breath Day. make sure you brush your teeth, floss and find a sweetie to get all kissy with, because kissing promotes good dental health. See… you get a nifty little science/health lesson. And a reason to get naughty on a Wednesday! Pucker Up!
